Alaeric's writings
I know Lauren is upset, but she really doesn't need to take it all out on me. I miss my wife, and my cousin is making me really regret that my honor compelled me to go into exile with her. If she doesn't lighten up, I am really going to fly apart - and I never like to lose my temper. I am just too volatile.
I guess that comes from being taller and broader than everyone else in the room. Even when Tarq would stand beside me - and he isn't short - I'd tower above him. I think they call it being built heroically. Doesn't always help though - being heroic. I mean I couldn't even convince a group of people I've known my entire life, that my cousin Lauren was innocent of all that was being said against her. I've always liked Carr, but that day, when she kept accusing Lauren of delaying the wedding so that she could negotiate the revolution and get her reward from our father's and Killia, I came close to dispising and hating her.
I think I hear Lauren moving around in her room - guess I'll see if she wants to come out and see this new world with me. Pretty soon, we are going to have to start our search for this world's Tal or other Oleanteas exiles. It's always better in exile if you have kindred souls.

First Days
From Lauren's personal blog:
These have been confusing and depressing days. We've been here on this edge for a week now. Everything is so strange and different. Even using this machine to record my thoughts - I miss my cubes where all you had to do was talk and sometimes even think and there it was, all recorded . With this thing I have to actually use my fingers and type. Oh well, such is the life of a fish out of water.
Ric would say at least I am doing something. I sort of feel badly yelling at him for the past three days. Everytime he came to my room I started to blame him, my father, Tarq, Carr, the universe for what was happening to me. Maybe it was my fault - I should have been more I don't know - bubbly, willing to be something I am not. Anyway, everytime Ric came to the door, all I felt was annoyed. I was angry that he was so damn noble. and I feel guilty that he left Tayela. I don't know how I am going to survive this. But I will.
This place is my new home and Dal Ryeas is behind me.
